Matt Love
Matt Love was co-founder of punk rock band Wimps in the crucible that was Olympia Washington in the early 80s. Though Wimps were influential on movements that followed (k-pop, grunge, riot grrrls) history has neglected them. 7 years later Matt co-founded agitprop pop group Thingy.
Though they once opened for Nirvana, history has not been kind to this group, either. 7 years after that Matt co-founded Olypunk supergroup The Holy Dorks. The Dorks too have faded from the pages of history, or more accurately, were never recorded in them.
In addition to these career highlights, Matt played in unremarkable and unremarked upon bands The Runs, Blood Paradise, That Stupid Love Experience, Dweebish, and other bands that didn't last long enough to even get named.
At this point Matt's career would have probably been over, but he was rediscovered and rehabilitated by a group of musicians in Sao Paulo, Brazil who treat him as sort of an elder statesman of lo fi.
After two trips to Sao Paulo, and several successful shows, performing with Brazilian musicians as The Waiters, Matt has felt sufficiently bolstered by this experience to attempt a new phase in his life of music making - solo singer-songwriter.
It has been said that his music is enervated, middle-aged punk rock with most of the obscenity, and all the leather and spikes removed.
Matt has directed community theatre, published community newspapers, volunteered at community radio stations, and served as a community activist in the causes of civil liberties, and anti-intervention and anti-imperialist causes.
In his professional life, Matt spent over two decades in public service, emplying technological change to better serve taxpayers, during a time when there was a great deal of resistance to innovation and transparency.
