DIVISION KENT - MONSTERPROOF | | Sky Antinori and Andrea B of Division Kent |
|
Zurich. One cold night in January, Sky Antinori (formerly of Swandive) achieved the impossible: He coerced Andrea B. to sing into his microphone. During those predawn hours, the very first „oeuvre“ by this currently nameless duo was born. The result was a high energy electronic track which took on shameless dimensions. One thing is for certain: in this combination new music shall be made. Brooklyn, New York. On a windy corner immersed in a diversely artistic community - DIVISION Street/KENT Avenue - twelve songs come into existence. Andrea B. and Sky Antinori share a similar background in music. They love savory compositions. Having digested various dance-beats of the nineties, they feel equally attracted to electronic sound producing instruments as to a hopelessly out of tune piano. Yet they do have divergent sentiments which lead to constructive musical arguments. The chaotic melting of their talents inspires these lyrics, melodies, beats and arrangements, with fellow musicians adding their flavor. “Monsterproof“ is the titletrack of their debut bearing the same name. - Humor defies adversity. The result: Electro, Punk, Dub, New Wave? - DIVISION KENT toys with many facets of clubby pop music. Man chases machine and vice versa: Danceable beats, heavy bass-lines, driving guitars, bewitching melodies and playful electronics reminiscent of the past three decades represent their vision of today. The lyrics are predominantly in English, but at times the songs - inspired by love, lust, moods and nightmares - call for the charming allure of French or the striking resonance of the German language. On stage the band grows to five people; the laptops stay home. Sky’s cousins from the South - Vincenzo Perrotta (guitars), Fu R.C. Gaffuri (bass), Ali S. (drums) – mix up the tête-à-tête and let the songs explode into present. Production notes

Division Kent Releases Gravity | |
| Sky Antinori and Andrea B of Division Kent |
DIVISION KENT - GRAVITY | gravity - (physics) the force of attraction between all masses in the universe | "gravity cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." Albert Einstein | Two years after the debut of MONSTERPROOF, DIVISION KENT is back with GRAVITY. |
The new album derives its name from a track created by a series of coincidences and accidents: a beat flying into a frenzy; a voice that dives abruptly one night; two song sketches coming together. „GRAVITY is dark with colour“, is how Andrea B. describes the 11 songs. A fictional trip through a reality-scape melding cinematic moods and the stardust of pop culture. Moments before they blur from the urge to be everywhere and nowhere – sometimes “upbeat”, sometimes “zen”, but always completely lucid.
